Behind the Pieces

Materials and Sizing

This page is a simple guide to how my jewelry is made and how it should fit on you. Here you can read about ring sizing, the wire I use for my rings, and the metals behind my necklaces, so you know what is touching your skin and how each piece is meant to wear over time. The Rare Treasure is built on “beautiful pieces for beautiful you,” and for me that begins with being clear and honest about materials and care.

Ring Sizing

A ring should feel like it belongs on your hand. It needs to slide over your knuckle with a bit of ease, settle comfortably at the base of your finger, and stay in place without feeling too tight. If you already own a ring that fits the finger you have in mind, you can lay it flat on a ruler and measure the inside of the circle from one side to the other, then compare that number to a ring size chart. If you do not have a ring to measure, you can wrap a thin strip of paper or a piece of string around your finger, mark where it meets, and measure that length to find your size. When you land between two sizes, the slightly larger size usually feels better, because our hands naturally change with temperature, movement, and time of day.

Ring Materials

My rings are made from non tarnish wire that I choose for its clean look, soft shine, and everyday durability. The wire is shaped and finished by hand, so it holds its form while still feeling light and smooth against the skin. With regular wear, most people can expect three months to a year of wear from these rings, depending on how often they are worn and how they are treated day to day. Taking rings off before swimming, heavy cleaning, or long hot showers helps the finish stay bright and extends the life of the piece. Many people find this wire comfortable and gentle, but metal sensitivity is personal, so if you know your skin reacts strongly to certain metals, it is always okay to keep that in mind and reach out with questions before you order.

Necklace Materials

Necklaces in my collection, including styles like Petal Grace, Avianna, and Dream, are made with gold filled chains and components. I choose these materials because I want the pieces to feel refined in the hand, sit softly against the skin, and stand up to being worn again and again. Gold filled means a thicker layer of real gold is bonded to a base metal using heat and pressure, so the gold forms the outer surface you actually see and feel. That thicker layer gives the metal a steady color and a gentle glow that lasts longer than standard fashion plating and feels more intentional when you put it on.

Quality and Skin Sensitivity

I care about how jewelry feels as much as how it looks. Gold filled materials are known for holding their color and for being a good option for many people with sensitive skin, because the outer layer is gold rather than exposed base metal. While no material can be promised as completely hypoallergenic for everyone, gold filled is generally a thoughtful choice if you want something that feels gentle on most skin, resists quick fading, and still reads as a polished, finished piece. If you have specific allergies or past reactions, I always encourage you to look at the metal listed and reach out if you would like to talk through what might work best for you.

Why I Use Gold Filled

I work with gold filled metals because they match the way I want my jewelry to live on you: beautiful, but not overly precious; special, but still wearable on a Tuesday. The higher gold content and thicker layer mean the color stays more consistent over time, and the pieces keep that quiet, warm shine that makes them easy to style with the rest of your collection. Gold filled allows you to enjoy the look and feel of gold without stepping into the price range of solid gold, which makes it a natural fit for signature necklaces like Petal Grace, Avianna, Dream, and the other designs in The Rare Treasure line.

Necklace Care

Caring for your necklaces is less about strict rules and more about small habits. Removing them before swimming, intense workouts, or long hot showers will help protect the surface and keep the gold looking even. After wearing, a quick wipe with a soft cloth can lift oils from your skin and keep the metal clear. Storing pieces in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or separate spot where chains are not rubbing and tangling, also helps them age well. With steady, simple care, your gold filled necklaces will continue to wear beautifully and stay ready whenever you reach for them.
